Mozart - C Minor Mass - Musica Poetica - St. John's Smith Square

This week continued with more Mozart, this time at St. John’s Smith Square on Wednesday 3rd April 2019. Will Russell (2nd trumpet) and I (1st trumpet) played natural trumpets with Musica Poetica and the English Baroque Choir under the direction of former King’s Singer, Jeremy Jackman.

The programme consisted of Biber’s Requiem in F Minor [IHB 17] and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor [K. 427], both performed at A=440Hz. Ellen Bundy (violin) played beautifully and was an excellent leader of the orchestra. We had excellent soloists: Kathleen Nic Dhiarmada (Soprano), Clare Tunney (Soprano), Tabitha Reynolds (Mezzo), Robert Forrest (Tenor) and Will Pate (Baritone). Orchestra, soloists and choir alike did an excellent job in this demanding programme.

It is always a pleasure to play for Jeremy Jackman. He is a fantastic combination of vibrant, pragmatic, clear, charismatic, diplomatic and musically stylish. I’ve had the pleasure of working with him and the English Baroque Choir before. We performed Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Brandenburg Baroque Soloists at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in September 2017.
