Established natural trumpet specialists Russell Gilmour, William Russell and Gareth Hoddinott have performed together with period instrument orchestras across Europe including Les Talens Lyriques, Vox Luminis, Le Concert Lorrain, the Wrocław Baroque Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment (at the BBC Proms).
As the regular trumpet section for Solomon's Knot Baroque Collective they have recently appeared in the Halle Handel Festival (Messiah), Leipzig Bach Festival (Magnificat in E-flat) and at the Spitalfields Festival in London (B Minor Mass).
The section has a reputation for playing with excellent intonation, balance and musicality using historically-informed mouthpieces and instruments (made on the same bell mandrel) by successive instrument makers Frank Tomes and David Staff.
Working regularly together since 2012, the section has played Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic music on historically appropriate instruments on many of Europe's most prestigious concert platforms.
