Handel - Fernando - Opera Settecento - Halle Handel Festival

Following a successful performance in the London Handel Festival, Opera Settecento travelled to Halle in Germany to perform Handel’s Fernando in the Halle Handel Festival. This city was, of course, the birthplace of George Frideric Handel. It was great to be back in Halle, and I had many happy memories of performing there with Les Talens Lyriques, Solomon's Knot, the Halle Handel Festival Orchestra and the Göttingen Handel Festival Orchestra (Festspiel Orchester Göttingen).

The performance took place on Tuesday 31st May 2022 in the Franckesche Stiftungen, and it was recorded for live transmission on the MDR Klassik radio station. Myself and Will Russell performed on natural trumpets [without holes].

The majority of the orchestra and singers travelled from London to Halle entirely by train, in order to reduce our carbon footprint. We travelled on the Eurostar to Brussels, and took Deutsche Bahn trains to Halle, changing in Frankfurt and Erfurt.
