Haydn - Creation - Eton College
Tuesday, 21 Mar 2017, 20:15I performed with The Brandenburg Classical Players at Eton College on Tuesday 21st March 2017 at 8:15pm. The performance of Haydn's Creation took place in the magnificent School Hall of Eton College.
The chorus was formed of the Eton College Musical Society, The Taplow Youth Choir and Wycombe Abbey School. Ed Yeo conducted the combined choirs and The Brandenburg Classical Players - all were on good form. Special mention must go to the wonderful soloists, Raphaela Papadakis (soprano), Andrew Tortis (tenor) and Nicholas Mogg (bass).
I was working within an excellent section: Russell Gilmour and William Russell on natural trumpet, Tommy Foster on timpani, Ursula Monberg and Martin Lawrence on natural horn and, Martyn Sanderson, Abigail Newman and Andy Lester on classical trombones. Mention must also go to the flute section: Rachel Brown, Flavia Hirte and Laura Piras for their excellent flute feature. I was particularly impressed by the harpsichord player who is currently studying at Eton: Donal McCann.
Thanks to all for a memorable and enjoyable performance. I had never before visited Eton or Windsor so it was great to see the iconic buildings and I plan to spend some more time there (with a camera) next time I visit.
