Bach - B Minor Mass - London Oratory

I played first trumpet in Bach’s B Minor Mass with the Schola Cantorum of the London Oratory School and the St. Cecilia Players (led by Jean Paterson) on Wednesday 11th May 2022. The performance was directed by Charles Cole and it took place at The Oratory on Brompton Road in London's South Kensington.

Singers stepped forward from the ranks of the choir to sing solos and several of the duet numbers were sung by the trebles and altos together—which sounded very good. Singing the entire B Minor Mass, with every single vocal part rendered in-house without assistance from lay clerks, deps or professional soloists was an impressive achievement; especially after all the recent challenges of remote learning during the pandemic. Massive congratulations are due to these impressive young singers and to their teachers.

Ursula Monberg (horn), Inga Maria Klaucke (bassoon) and Hayley Pullen (bassoon) played an excellent Quoniam.
