Purcell - King Arthur - València

I performed Purcell’s King Arthur with Vox Luminis at the Palau de la Música in València on Tuesday 17 February 2026. This is a programme that we have performed several times, and it was great to revisit it—this time with a narration in Spanish by Àngel Figols.

After a welcome quiet start to the year (predominantly spent in the UK and in my trumpet-making workshop) it was great to get back into the swing of performing and travelling again: I left the UK on Sunday evening, explored the streets and market in the Ciutat Vella (old city) and rehearsed on Monday, and walked along sandy beaches in 21°C sunshine in El Cabanyal (a fishing district named after the fishermen's cabins which once lined the coast) before the concert on Tuesday evening (after which we enjoyed a traditional Valencian paella). By Friday I’ll be in Vienna where it is currently 0°C!

I also used my downtime wisely, organising workshop visits and lessons with various silversmiths as part of my latest Arts Council England DYCP project. There’s a lot to look forward to this year, but first (after a quick stop-off at home) I'm off to Vienna to perform L'opera seria by Florian Leopold Gassmann with Les Talens Lyriques.
